PETE langford
Pete Langford has been active in the Colorado music scene since the late ’60s. A founding member of two of the areas best known bands, Ralph Dinosaur & the Fabulous Volcanoes and JT & the Big Dogs, Pete has been playing with Guy on and off for over 20 years. Having been inspired by early instrumental music from the Ventures while living in Thailand, Pete has been a bassist since the age of 15, switching from guitar because even then “guitar players were a dime a dozen.” Pete holds down the bottom on the upright or “doghouse” bass with Stray Grass. His musical interests range from newgrass to chamber music with lots of R&B influences thrown in.
GUY stephens
Guy Stephens plays acoustic guitar, guitjo, mandolin and provides vocal support for Stray Grass. He began playing guitar at the tender age of 6, having been inspired by the “Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour” and his parents’ collection of Chet Atkins recordings. Guy and Pete Langford (bass) supply a solid rhythmic and harmonic foundation to Stray Grass music, due to a long shared musical history going back to the early ’80s club scene in Colorado, and most recently a 12-year stint as founding members of JT & the Big Dogs. Guy’s musical tastes are varied and include not only Americana and new acoustic music, but also jazz, blues, fingerstyle and “anything with an interesting melody.”
GARRY tullio
With a deep passion for singing, Garry Tullio got his musical start at 12 playing polkas with his grandpa. Having a newfound love for acoustic, newgrass and Americana music, Garry can trace his musical influences back to his parents love for the Grateful Dead, the Eagles and The Steve Miller Band. With a diverse musical respect for bands such as Sublime, Sam Bush, the Dave Matthews Band and the String Cheese Incident, he continues to better himself instrumentally through the inspiration of his mentors and friends. Garry contributes to the distinct sound of Stray Grass with his songwriting, vocals, mandolin and guitar.
